Harrods have introduced a new styling service called The Fashion Lab, in which the key looks for autumn winter 2013 are put into a trend edit. This is a new online and in store service which offers customers advice on how to style themselves for autumn winter 2013.
The Fashion Lab features a range of high-end designer labels such as The Kooples and Zadig & Voltaire. The idea is that the key designer pieces from this season are presented visually to the customer instead of them having to trail the internet trying to work out what the statement pieces are this season.
High street retailers such as Topshop and ASOS have been doing informal, ‘key seasonal looks’ on their websites for a while now. Customers are presented with a mood board of specific trends, allowing them to ‘shop the trend’.
Topshop break up trends into themes such as ‘berry good’ (autumn’s love of berry shades) which are easy for the brower so click on, making internet shopping so much quicker.
Features such as ‘Look of the Day’ enable online shoppers to access the trends at a click. We don’t always have time to trail through all the clothing sections on a website trying to spot that pink coat which is so ‘in’ right now.
